Our Heritage and Vision

Our Story

Established in 1917, Bethel College began as an Adventist Theology and Teacher Training College. In 1995, we incorporated our High School component and today serve as a combined primary and secondary school (Grade R–12). We are proud to have produced renowned leaders in both the private and public sectors across South Africa.

Vision

To be a school that reflects ever-higher standards of excellence: Spiritually, Physically, and Mentally.

Our blueprint for education promotes practical work and labour for learners to enable them to be usefully occupied and this becomes a blessing in later life as it strengthens the body, expands the mind and develops character. Our agricultural project provides a firm basis for this ideal and is currently being strengthened to create a third stream income that will enable Bethel to become financially self-sustainable in the future.

Mission

To impact South Africa and beyond by producing men and women of character who are equipped with a balanced, modern education and inspired to serve.

Lastly all of the above are undergirded by a Christian faith principle founded on the principles of the character of God. Thus we aim to inspire learners in entering into a lasting relationship with Christ. “The object of education, the great object of life remains to restore in man the image of his Maker, to bring him back to the perfection in which he was created, to promote the development of body, mind and soul, that the divine purpose in his creation might be realized”. (Education, p15)
